Why course quality is hard to judge

Most online courses are sold with a sales page rather than a syllabus. That makes it difficult to compare two programs on anything other than price and promise. This demo article shows the structure we use for every course review we publish.

What we look at

Curriculum depth

We read the full module list, count the lessons that contain original instruction, and note how much of the runtime is introduction, recap or upsell.

Instructor track record

We look for verifiable experience in the subject being taught, published work, and whether the instructor answers questions inside the program.

Support and community

A course with an active answer channel is worth more than one with a silent forum. We check response times where that information is public.

Questions to ask before buying

• Is the syllabus published before purchase?
• What exactly is included, and for how long?
• What are the refund terms, in writing?
• Is the material updated, and when was it last revised?

How we score

We weigh teaching quality and clarity above production value. A well-structured course recorded simply is usually more useful than a polished one with thin content.
